Why the need?

Dallas was a part of One by One’s original pilot program from 1995-2004. We began to focus on growing our community in Dallas in 2011 and in 2021 hired a full-time Ministry Director for the Dallas / Ft. Worth region.

Texas Statistics:

  • 54% of all pregnancies are unplanned.

  • 42% of births are to single moms.

  • 42% of children in poverty live in single-mother households.

  • Texas has one of the highest teen birth rates in the country.

  • About 20% of teen moms have more than one child. Many of these moms are single and without skills to parent well.

 Kristy dunaway

Community Ministry Director

Kristy joined One by One as Community Ministry Director in July, 2021. She is a member of  Collierville First Baptist Church where she served on staff as the Preschool Ministry Director for 5 years.  She is active at her church with co-teaching a women’s Bible study and volunteering in the preschool. Kristy grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and moved to Tennessee over 20 years ago. She loves traveling, running, reading,  and playing the ukulele. It is her desire to see generations transformed by the love of Christ. She is passionate about One by One’s vision: that all Moms will accept God’s love and that children will flourish. Kristy has been married to Kirk for 28 years. They have two grown children - a son and a daughter.
